The ABC’s of it

Saturday morning
and the above thought I caught on a
page of Facebook
and
had to grin,
we need to put that one in the
front part of the brain
I’m thinking!
The storms have now left destruction
from the Gulf Coast
to
The Great Lakes
and
today many are without their homes,
their loved ones,
their minds
as they attempt to make order of it all.
Photographs of the remnants of
homes, memories,
things that are upside down
or completely gone,
and in one home of such mass destruction
a table sits as if nothing had happened
with two American Flags
standing perfectly straight.
Disaster and trauma
and
“states of emergency”
have been sounded.
We have to have
FAITH
during times like this,
we must maintain
HOPE
for those lives so deeply affected,
those lives lost
and
those who are now wandering through
the debris.
They will survive this,
they will find that ability
and hands that will be extended
to hold, to help, to care.
“Faith can move mountains, but don’t be surprised if God hands you a shovel.”
  ~Author Unknown ~
My prayers to all in those states
and
communities
and those who love them.
Brave and strong men and women
will just show up
will arrive
and will jump in to do whatever and wherever
because they can.
People will show the best of humanity, as they gather in fellowship with UNITY to render compassion and care and desire to make a difference for those who are now wondering how this could possibly happen to them.
Lives forever changed
by a ravaging storm front that has
taken lives,
destroyed tapestries
of lives put together through years of work, play and prayer.
Strength and faith will be tested in ways
never before imagined.
And yet,
many will find a great ability
to re-build
to stand UP
to believe that it will work out
in the long haul.
People are truly amazing
and
able to accomplish great things
during times of such heartache
and
tragedy.
As strangers will meet for the first time,
they will quickly develop bonds
that one would think had been tied strong
together for years.
They will cry together, sweat together,
find ways to restore and build up
TOGETHER
in
Unity
as those who are connected
as human beings who care only can.
We will witness and some will be there
hand in hand
heart in heart
doing the extroidinary jobs
of digging through devastation
and
instilling
HOPE.
We will see once again,
the proof will be in the puddin;
that when we stand together
we stand
STRONG
and
we are a great force to reckon with
in the times of tragedy
in the times of greatness
and even
during times of great stress and sadness.
WE
are people who stand strong in the face of harm, of threat, of destruction and devastation.
I cannot help but wonder
why
we forget or choose to not stand in ways such as this all the time.
In our thoughts, our actions, our
UNITY
as brothers/sisters
of our country.
My gratitude to all the
FIRST RESPONDERS
who are now answering the call
and those who are volunteering
in the states, communities
and
lives that have been affected
from
the Gulf to the Great Lakes.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you
today and in the coming days
and
months.
Please hold on to each other
and
onto
FAITH
“Faith is a passionate intuition.”

  7. We are so fortunate to have what we have. Watching the news is tear jerkers. We take for granted what we have and it can be gone in a heart beat. So sad to see the families going thru their trashed homes just looking for something to hold dear. Prayers are with them and their loved ones. The school bus pulling up full of strangers to just help out and create a bond that will last forever. God Bless the good people of the USA. Watching the children go back to school in Ohio where the student just took aim and sot whoever was in his path. May God be with him and the families of those who were lost. Lots of things going on in our world. I am grateful too with my life words that sum it all up. Blessings to all

  12. Thank you Dr. Sherry for your words. Holding those who have been through the storms in my prayers this day. We had power outages here in SE MI, very strong winds, stormy rain but that is mild compared to what others have been through the last few days. I am grateful and thankful for that. It is dark and cloudy looking right now like another storm on its way. Off to the shelter this morning. We hope to have some adoptions today. Two dogs and a cat were adopted last night and one lost dog returned to owner – cute long hair terrier. We took in three stray cats and one handsome young boxer dog last night so we are about equal. Wishing all those who stop by here a Happy Saturday and be safe wherever you are and enjoy those Blessings for your day. /Sandy♥

  16. The weather-related destruction/devistation/loss and pain are too much to grasp. Most of us sit here on Saturday morning, roof over head, coffee in hand, safe, dry, warm, surrounded by our "things". As I see the news and people out there STUNNED into the reality of a few minutes taking it all away, I am grateful for my life. It could happen to any of us, anyWHERE in this USA.Setting my GPS longitude/latitude to GRATITUDE, staying FIRM
